Retro Arcade Game Made in a Day
If you thought Flappy Bird was hard, you gotta try this app. It is hard, retro, hard, simple and super hard. Lasting 10 seconds pretty much means you are a gaming god. Tell you what. Get over 1,000 points and the entire internet will bow down before you claiming you are the ultimate gaming god of the universe.
Hurl down a wormhole in an 8-bit spaceship… that has a proven track record of exploding… in this retro arcade runner (technically speaking, a space-time continuum flyer). Your only goal is to survive as long as possible. The longer you last, the faster you go, and the higher your score climbs.
Simple, right? HA!
Survive breakneck turns as you dash through geometric wormholes that will shatter your spaceship — and hopes of a high score.
- Amazing 8-bit graphics
- Classic arcade soundtrack
- Simple yet skillful tap button controls
- Original gold coin collecting system (no one’s ever done that before, right?)
- Colorful and vivid 3D geometry cubes that change color like WOAH
- Infinite lives! You don’t even need to be a cat (wait, what?)
- Unlock new rockets and spaceships featuring state of the art pixel art
- Totally free! But we make you watch an ad every once in awhile, ‘cuz, you know, someone has to pay your spaceship mechanic bill…
This ridiculously hard twitch game was created as an overnight project by Rolith and the CRIT Team at Artix Entertainment. May you enjoy countless hours of frustratingly, addictively-beautiful space-travel with VelocityAE!

Rolith's Surprise Mobile Game Release: The Story
If you’re a long-time player of Artix games, then you probably recognize this fellow. That’s Rolith, our resident code monkey. He’s been Artix’s longest coder, cracking away at DragonFable in 2006, and has dabbled in just about every Artix game ever since.
But, man, Rolith LOVES his job. When he’s not typing code at breakneck speeds here at the Secret Underground Lab, he’s at home writing even more ridiculous code “for funsies” (Rolith’s words exactly). I bet his dreams are in C#.
So it should come to no surprise that Rolith decided to make a game in his spare time... because, funsies. So one night, Rolith started building something he was really passionate about (retro arcade runners), and 24 hours later… VelocityAE was born.
But before anyone could ask him why, Rolith quickly pulled aside Cysero and Korin, asking for their help to build some assets for his overnight game. Cysero whipped up the 8-bit artwork for the spaceships and Korin was on 3D mesh duty.
“Have you told Artix about your game, Rolith?” Cysero asked. “Um, No...” whispered Rolith, “Don’t tell Artix about Velocity yet.
Finally Rolith approached Artix and said, “I know you got a ton of games coming out this summer, but what would you say if I had one ready to go…. right now?”
A skeptically-curious Artix was given Rolith’s iPhone and he started playing. He died 3 seconds later. “Hard. Retro. ...and SUPER HARD!” exclaimed Artix as he spent the next 17 minutes replaying the game over and over again, trying to beat his high score. He didn’t last longer than 10 seconds. “I love this! How long until we can release it for the players”
Rolith smirked. Artix went o_O, leaned in and asked, “Did you, uh… already submit it?” Rolith was taken aback. “Should I have waited?” “No, no…. this is great!” Artix reaffirmed. “At least you did not use your spare time to making another game about Ponies! Let it go live secretly, we can make fixes and then tell the whole world about this!"

Phantasmal DOOM, Eidolon mecha revival!
Once again doom strikes Soluna City... the Hunter Eidolon mecha series has been by far one of the most interesting series in the game.
So I was really excited to see these new buffs designed by Blues, they increase the efficiency of the mecha against both ghost and normal enemies! Here’s Vivi with the new specials:
Deals 150% damage
+30% damage on ghosts
Applies an effect that drains EP (they lose, you gain) equal to Level/2 rounded down that lasts 4 turns
Chance for a 1.5x EP DOT
Deals 150% damage
+10% damage on ghosts
Captures weakened ghosts
If the enemy is not captured, chance to lower bonus by 40 for 3 turns and the enemy loses 15% of their max EP
Deals 150% damage
First use of the shoulders gives the enemy the Psionic Link effect (which does nothing). The second use replaces Psionic Link with an Energy Drain effect. Each turn the enemy loses 75% of their EP Regen and you gain it.
Deals 150% damage
High crit chance on ghosts
Against ghosts, gives +40 boost for 5 turns
Deals 150% damage
If you have any ghosts captured, consumes 1 ghost and heals 40% of your max HP and 20% of your max EP
Thanks Vivi, not only have these new specials been added but also the mecha is now color customizable!
Hope you guys enjoy the release, watch out for scurvy gremlins, and I leave you with doom pirates!
Thanks, Plasma Charge! Maegwyn here. I just wanted to add a quick thing:

Hello everyone! I can't believe it has only been three years. So much has happened, it is amazing to think about the last three years... I remember working on the early development of MechQuest. I had just moved to Florida to work in the Underground secret Lab full time... Those days were so hectic. My wife and I had just had a new baby and were completely uprooting ourselves to come here. It was very tough. Between the hardships and struggles of a new family, I was also experiencing the stress of starting a new job and moving from a very familiar place. Things happened so fast, I didn't even have time to realize what was happening!
When we launched MechQuest, we had a starship and a pizza shop and 5 Shadowscythe enemies...
Three years later, we have over 5000 items, 1000 mechs, 400+ quests, an Artbook, new Soundtrack CD, Starships, house wars, Facebook connectivity... etc.. I could keep listing stuff... but you get the idea. MQ is HUGE.
The MechQuest team is very special to me. We have some of the most talented people I have ever been lucky enough to work with. Our team is small, but everyone on it is BIG. I am so proud of what we have achieved in these 3 years. I know the next three years will be awesome!
Happy Birthday MECHQUEST!

Greetings everyone! It seems like ages since I have written the MechQuest Design Notes! When Korin asked me if I could oversee release while he was away, I nearly jumped out of my seat with excitement! I am honored to bring you this week's release!
Anyway, this week, we have the Tiger Master on Planet Yokai! The way to his shrine may only be revealed to a true master of the various Yokai fighting styles! Can you figure out the mystery of the gongs and challenge the powerful Tiger? Watch out! Tiger style is all about hitting hard... and then harder... and then even harder! Can you counter the awesome power of the Tiger?
The Tiger shrine quest breaks from the recent Yokai mold. You will not have to fight any waves of enemies before entering the Tiger Shrine, Instead you will have to go to the shrine and solve the riddle of the gongs in order to locate the secret entrance and challenge the Tiger Master! Also, we added an awesome new Fast Travel button that will appear in the Yokai camp after you have gained 100% control of the Dojo. This fast Travel button will instantly transport you to the Dojo. Yay! no more random encounters!
The MechQuest team is going at maximum overdrive for the next few weeks! We still have this month's SC Monthly mecha, the 4th of July mecha, and the Yokai finale in the works...
I also had a lot of fun play-testing the One-Eyed Doll Live Event in AQ Wolrds this week! It is really spectacular and One-Eyed Doll rocks! This is my favorite AQW release yet! (I am admittedly biased towards all Mythsong related events). Anyway, It is definitely worth checking out! Remember tonight at 8pm Server time!
I hope everyone enjoys tonight's Yokai release! I had a lot of fun making the Gongs :)
